Symptom: The classic hose reel hose cannot be pulled out or retracted back in, appearing to be stuck in the one position.

Cause: This is due to the hose overlapping itself within the hose reel. There are two reasons why this may occur:

  1. The feeder arm is misaligned, causing the hose to layer incorrectly.

  2. When retracting the hose, its important to keep tension on the hose and let the spring do all the work. If you to attempt to help guide the hose back in, it can create looping within the reel, leading to 'knots'.

Resolution:

  1. Pull the Hose Fully Out: Place one hand on the reel to stabilize it and the other hand on the hose. Apply a few strong, sharp tugs to the hose. This should help push the tangle through the internal mechanism. Use firm force—do not worry about pulling hard.

  2. Check Feeder Arm Alignment: Once the hose is fully extended, check the position of the feeder arm. It should be located on the far-left side of the unit when facing it from the front. If it is not, the following document will assist in re-aligning the feeder arm:

  3. Retract the Hose Slowly: Begin retracting the hose into the reel casing slowly. A properly aligned feeder arm will guide the hose smoothly and evenly back into the reel.
