Updated over a month ago

At Hoselink, we have invested countless hours perfecting our retraction technology to ensure years of dependable performance.

If your Evolve Retractable Hose Reel is failing to retract fully or experiencing resistance, use this guide to diagnose the issue and resolve.

Issues include hoses not retracting in at all (fully out) or the hose only retracting part way into the casing.

Resolutions provided below for each symptom.

Warranty: Five year warranty

Hose is all the way out

Symptom: The Evolve Retractable Hose Reel hose is fully extended out to its maximum length and will not retract into the casing. The internal spring mechanism is failing to engage despite tugging on the hose, resulting in no retraction.

Causes

This may be caused from overextending the hose or an issue with the spring mechanism.

Resolution: Reset the Hose Guide

If the hose is over-extended these steps will resolve the issue.

Instructions:

  • Turn off the water at the tap & release the water pressure from the spray gun.

  • Standing at the unit, brace unit with one hand and with the other give a few short sharp tugs on the hose.

This should re-engage the feeder mechanism, and the hose should start to retract.

Note: If this does not resolve the issue, this means that the spring is broken. If broken, the spring cannot be repaired. The hose has a five year warranty. To start a warranty claim, contact customer support.

Hose is retracting part way

Symptom: The Evolve Retractable Hose Reel hose has retracted part way into the casing but some hose still remains out.

Causes

This indicates the Precision Layering System (PLS) is misaligned, the Guidance Tooth is broken or the Spring is broken.

Resolution 1: Re-align the PLS

If the PLS is misaligned or not functioning as it should, this can cause your hose to layer incorrectly during retraction. You can easily realign the PLS by removing the Guidance Tooth, adjusting it to the correct position and then reinstalling the tooth. Step by step instructions can be found below, along with a video which you'll need to watch from 12s in.

Instructions:

  1. Pull the hose out slightly and remove the front fascia by gently pulling down from the top.

  2. Remove the Guidance Tooth by gently squeezing on the PLS clips to release the tooth. Then pull the tooth out.

  3. Pull the hose out to the full length to make sure the PLS is positioned all the way to the left-hand side.

  4. Now re-install the Guidance Tooth, ensuring it clips in snuggly, and then put the Fascia back into position.

If you find the Guidance Tooth is broken, the Evolve Hose Reel comes with a spare included in the body of the unit. Refer to the below video from 1m 25s to locate this.

Resolution 2: Replacing the Guidance Tooth

If the Guidance Tooth is broken, this can cause your hose to not retract fully into the hose reel. The Evolve Hose Reel comes with a spare tooth included in the body of the unit. You can order an additional Guidance Tooth for your Evolve Hose Reel HERE or by contacting Customer Support.

Step by step instructions can be found below, along with a video which you'll need to watch from 12s in.

Instructions:

  2. Remove the broken Guidance Tooth by gently squeezing on the PLS clips to release the tooth. Then pull the tooth out.

  3. Pull the hose out to the full length to make sure the PLS is positioned all the way to the left-hand side.

  4. Push the spare Guidance Tooth into place, ensuring it clips in snuggly, and then put the Fascia back into position.
