If your classic hose reel is making a loud noise while retracting or extending, the elbow joint (water inlet where the leader hose connects) may need lubrication.
Follow the steps below to resolve.
Access the Elbow Joint
Locate the round side panel where the leader hose enters the hose reel.
Gently pry it off using a flat head screwdriver or butter knife.
2. Remove the Circlip
Use circlip pliers to carefully remove the silver circlip that secures the hose.
3. Detach the Hose
Gently pull or leverage the hose away from the elbow joint to expose the o-rings.
4. Apply Lubricant
Apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant directly onto the black rubber o-rings.
Avoid oil-based or water-soluble lubricants — these may damage the seals or wash away.
5. Reassemble
Push the hose back onto the elbow joint.
Reinstall the circlip and pop the panel cover back into place.
